About the ASU

The Australian Services Union is one of the largest and most diverse unions in Australia, with members working in local government and white-collar private sector industries.
Formed in 1993 through the amalgamation of the Federated Clerks Union (FCU), the Municipal Employees Union and the (original) Australian Services Union (ASU), today's ASU has evolved into a decentralised, modern union with branches in every state.
The Victorian Private Sector Branch covers white-collar office and customer service workers in private industry. Just about anyone doing "office work" in the private sector is eligible to join. Our members are call-centre agents, customer service reps, administrators, clerks, social workers and more. Although ASU members work in a wide variety of sectors, they are united by their common interest in ensuring decent pay and conditions at work. Employers of our private-sector members include:
