Menzies EBA approved

Members at Menzies airline services have successfully negotiated a new EBA with their employer. The new EBA was approved on 7 February, and provides a 3% wage increase back-paid to October last year, plus 3% in June this year and another 3% in 2013.

 

Menzies staff vote up EBA!

Staff at Menzies have now formally voted in favour of the EBA negotiated by ASU members. The vote was finalised on 3 January and the paperwork is now being compiled for submission to Fair Work Australia.

Once FWA approve the EBA, Menzies staff will have their terms and conditions protected and benefit from regular annual pay increases and full time conversions. The ASU will be in regular contact with members with updates on the EBA's progress.

Emirates staff have voted overwhelmingly to endorse the ASU / ALAEA EBA deal negotiated and recommended by the ASU / ALAEA 's Emirates National Negotiating Team.

Tribunal delivers Jetstar EBA4 for Christmas
Fair Work Australia approved the Jetstar / ASU EBA 4 on the 23rd of December 2011 and ordered that the EBA come into effect from the 29th of December 2011. The ASU and Jetstar strongly supported the agreement which was overwhelmingly endorsed by ASU members and staff covered by the EBA.

EBA 4 gets thumbs up!

Jetstar staff have voted overwhelmingly to endorse the ASU EBA 4 deal negotiated and recommended by the ASU's Jetstar National Negotiating Team. The external company conducting the ballot, Elections Australia Pty Ltd, today declared that ASU EBA 4 has been approved by the majority of staff. 96.2% of staff who voted, voted in favour of the Agreement, making EBA 4 one of the strongest supported EBAs negotiated this year.

Members can begin voting for the proposed EBA 4 from 8:00 a.m. on 14 December 2011 and the ballot remains open until 5pm on Tuesday 20 December 2011 (AEDST). Don’t forget to register your vote.

After over a year of negotiations your NNT now believes Jetstar have made an offer that the NNT is prepared to recommend to ASU members for their new EBA. Your NNT met with Jetstar once on 15 November 2011 and we were pleased to learn that the Company has significantly improved its offer from our previous meetings.

Earlier in the month Jetstar staff grabbed the media’s attention away from disputes at big brother Qantas (albeit briefly) with some feisty protected industrial action from check-in staff.

ASU supports protection from aviation outsourcing & offshoring at Senate Inquiry

The ASU has made a submission to the Senate Inquiry into the Australian aviation industry impacting outsourcing and offshoring of jobs which is holding hearings in Canberra today. The Inquiry arises from proposed amendments to legislation that would require airlines to pay both Australian and overseas staff at the same rates and to maintain Qantas and subsidiaries' head offices in Australia, thereby diminishing the attraction of sending jobs overseas.

Fair Work Australia Terminates all action

In the small hours this morning Fair Work Australia cancelled all industrial action - that is the unprecedented action of Qantas and the action of the three unions seeking to bargain with the airline. In it's decision Fair Work Australia noted that it was Qantas' actions in grounding the airline that would cause significant harm to the Australian economy.
