EBA 4 gets thumbs up!

Jetstar staff have voted overwhelmingly to endorse the ASU EBA 4 deal negotiated and recommended by the ASU's Jetstar National Negotiating Team. The external company conducting the ballot, Elections Australia Pty Ltd, today declared that ASU EBA 4 has been approved by the majority of staff. 96.2% of staff who voted, voted in favour of the Agreement, making EBA 4 one of the strongest supported EBAs negotiated this year.

Jetstar and the ASU are currently finalising all documentation to be lodged with Fair Work Australia. Once Fair Work Australia approves the agreement EBA 4 commences.

When do I get my pay rise?

Once the EBA has been approved by Fair Work Australia the Jetstar pay office can adjust wage rates and calculate back pay owed to individual staff. The precise timing of wage increases and back-pay will be advised shortly. We expect this will be available in January 2012 in time to pay a few Christmas bills!

What did we win?

  • 3% increase on base rates of pay back paid to 1 October 2010 and a further 3% back paid to 30 October 2011. Another 3% pay rise to be applied from 1October 2012.
  • Increase in allowances based on wage increase or CPI.
  • A sign on payment of $750 for staff who participate in the vote. A further $250 for staff employed at 1 July 2012.
  • Better redundancy pay. Severance payment up to 20 weeks (or 24 weeks if you are over 45 years).
  • Increase in paid maternity leave to 12 weeks.
