Tribunal delivers Jetstar EBA4 for Christmas

Tribunal delivers Jetstar EBA4 for Christmas
Fair Work Australia approved the Jetstar / ASU EBA 4 on the 23rd of December 2011 and ordered that the EBA come into effect from the 29th of December 2011. The ASU and Jetstar strongly supported the agreement which was overwhelmingly endorsed by ASU members and staff covered by the EBA.

Back pay and pay increases

Jetstar payroll has to process almost a15 months of back pay. Staff received a 3% increase on their pay, payable for the period between 1 October 2010 and 30 September 2011. Staff will also receive a further 3% increase, payable form 1 October 2011 to the present. Staff will be back paid the increase in wages owed for any hours worked since 1 October 2010. The next pay increase of 3% will take effect from 1 October 2012.

At this stage the exact timing of when you will receive your back pay and sign on payment is unclear, however, Jetstar has informed us that they are working with payroll to get all money owed to you by the end of January 2012. It is likely that the money will be paid in two lots. The pay increases and the $750 will be paid first, then a second payment will be made that includes all your back pay.

Allowances also increase under the EBA. The expense related meal allowance is specified in the EBA to increase from 1 January each year of the EBA’s operation. Thanks to the NNT and ASU delegates and members

It is once again important to acknowledge as you get your pay rises that this would not have been possible without the hard work of the ASU National negotiating team members across Australia who put a lot of time and effort into the negotiations of our EBA 4.

They were ably backed up on the ground too by ASU members many of whom were active during the ASU EBA 4 ‘Value OurWork’ campaign and demonstrated their commitment to getting a better result by engaging in protected industrial action – without this team effort we all could not have achieved this important result.
