Back to the negotiating table…
The ASU has met with Virgin Blue management in an effort to get negotiations back on track following the comprehensive no vote on the EBA put to you by management.
A number of our members at Virgin Blue have asked us to provide guidance, support and advice as the next bargaining round at Virgin Blue begins.
As the largest union in the airlines industry we are happy to ensure that our members have access to the best advice and guidance possible.
We approached the Transport Workers Union to seek their support in being directly involved in the negotiations on your behalf. They have chosen not to respect your views and choice of union and haven’t even bothered to reply. Unfortunately, some of the previous government’s WorkChoices legislation still applies which means both the Company and the TWU can prevent us from directly representing you in the EBA negotiations (but not from otherwise representing you in disputes), however we expect this to all change when the Rudd Labor Government puts its new laws in parliament next month.
In the meantime, the ASU is available for advice and support to our members in the bargaining process and representation on any other issues you have at the workplace.
